RONG Open Air Festival Malta 2026

RONG Open Air Festival Malta 2026

If you love trance and progressive electronic music, Malta in May 2026 is exactly where you need to be. The RONG Open Air Festival returns to the island from Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th May 2026, bringing with it four days of world-class DJ sets, breathtaking venues, and the kind of Mediterranean sunshine that makes every beat hit harder.

What is RONG Open Air Festival?

RONG Open Air is widely regarded as one of Europe’s premier trance and progressive music events, and Malta has become its spiritual home. Originally born from the UK scene, the festival found the perfect setting in Malta’s combination of stunning natural backdrops, world-class open-air venues, and warm spring weather.

The 2026 edition is bigger than ever, with over 60 artists confirmed across four days — including 13 Malta debuts. Headliners include acclaimed names such as Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Cosmic Gate, Aly & Fila, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Markus Schulz, Ruben De Ronde, Ben Nicky, Maddix, Solarstone, Billy Gillies, The Space Brothers, Will Atkinson, and Mauro Picotto. Whether you’re a lifelong trance devotee or simply looking for an unforgettable festival experience, the line-up delivers at every level.

Venues & Events Across the Weekend

One of the things that makes RONG Malta so unique is the variety of settings. The festival takes over multiple iconic locations across the island, including:

  • UNO Malta at Ta’ Qali — Malta’s largest open-air venue, capable of hosting over 5,000 people, set within the grounds of a beautifully revitalised crafts village.
  • Café del Mar Malta — a stunning clifftop venue with an infinity pool and uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean Sea, the island of Comino, and Gozo on the horizon.
  • Boat Parties — set sail across the Mediterranean and experience trance DJ sets as the sun sets over the water. Separate tickets required.

Each day brings a different atmosphere — from open-air club nights and sunset sessions to beach parties and pool parties. With a weekend pass, festival-goers gain access to a minimum of five parties across the four days, making it one of the best value festival experiences in Europe.

Exploring Malta Alongside the Festival

RONG Malta isn’t just a music festival — it’s an opportunity to discover one of the Mediterranean’s most extraordinary destinations. Between sets, make time to explore Valletta, Malta’s UNESCO-listed capital, just a short distance away. Wander through its baroque streets, visit St. John’s Co-Cathedral, or watch the sun sink behind the Grand Harbour from the Upper Barrakka Gardens.

If you’re travelling further afield, the crystal-clear waters of the Blue Lagoon in Comino are a must, while the ancient walled city of Mdina offers a completely different atmosphere — quiet, medieval, and utterly captivating.

Staying in Valletta for RONG Malta 2026

Accommodation fills up quickly during RONG weekend, so it’s worth planning ahead. Staying in Valletta puts you within easy reach of the festival venues while giving you a base in Malta’s most beautiful and historic city.

The Embassy Valletta Hotel sits at the heart of Valletta on the legendary Strait Street, offering comfortable, stylish rooms and a rooftop restaurant with panoramic views — the perfect place to unwind between festival nights.

Whether you’re coming solo, with friends, or as a couple, a stay in Valletta gives you the best of both worlds: a world-class music festival and a destination that rewards every moment of exploration.
