A Midsummer Dream: Music and Poetry Light Up Mdina’s St Paul’s Cathedral

This 25th June 2025, experience a truly unforgettable evening at St Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina as A Midsummer Dream unfolds in one of Malta’s most iconic settings. Combining classical music with timeless poetry, this special event marks the arrival of summer in Malta with romance, artistry, and a sense of wonder.

Tucked within the ancient walled city of Mdina, often called the Silent City, this concert is more than a performance—it’s a journey through history, sound, and soul. Before the music begins, enjoy a curated walking tour at 6:30 pm through Mdina’s majestic streets and hidden gems, setting the tone for an unforgettable cultural experience.

Music That Moves, Poetry That Speaks

Inside the grand cathedral, the evening will blossom with the work of composers like Mozart, Debussy, Rachmaninov, and Vivaldi, performed by the esteemed Cordia String Quartet under the direction of Jacob Portelli. Accompanying the music is soprano Miriam Cauchi, one of Malta’s most celebrated voices.

Complementing the melodies is a powerful spoken-word element, as actor Mikhail Basmadjian brings to life the evocative writings of Shakespeare, William Blake, and Malta’s own Rużar Briffa, transforming the space into a dreamscape of sound and verse.
