Originally constructed in the late 16th century, the imposing building served as the Auberge d’Italie, one of the grand inns or auberges that accommodated the various langues (nationalities) of the esteemed Order of St. John. Designed by the renowned architect Giuseppe Bonnici and completed in 1579, the Auberge d’Italie exuded elegance, reflecting the influence of the Italian Renaissance style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 20th century, efforts were made to restore and preserve this historic building, recognizing its architectural and cultural significance. In 1974, it was finally transformed into the National Museum of Fine Arts, known as Muza. Today, the museum showcases a diverse collection of artworks that span centuries of creativity and craftsmanship, including works by celebrated Maltese artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
