The Embassy Valletta Hotel Supports Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna

Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna heritage site in Malta

We are proud to announce that The Embassy Valletta Hotel has signed a three-year agreement to become one of the main sponsors of Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna — The Malta Heritage Trust.

As a hotel rooted in the heart of Valletta, we have always felt a deep sense of responsibility toward the city and the islands that surround us. Valletta is not just our address — it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a living monument to centuries of Mediterranean history, and the reason so many of our guests choose to visit Malta in the first place. We believe that those of us who benefit from this heritage have an obligation to help preserve it.

That belief is what led us to Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna.

About Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna

Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna (FWA) is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation that has been working to preserve and protect Malta’s cultural heritage since 1987. The foundation restores, manages, and opens to the public a number of historic buildings and sites across the Maltese Islands — properties that span over 7,000 years of history, from prehistoric temples to baroque fortifications and 20th-century wartime defences.

Among the sites FWA cares for are the Saluting Battery at the Upper Barrakka Gardens, the Lascaris War Rooms, the War HQ Tunnels, the Malta at War Museum in Vittoriosa, and Fort Rinella in Kalkara. Every cent the foundation generates goes directly back into the restoration and ongoing conservation of these irreplaceable sites.

FWA is staffed by a small team of dedicated professionals and volunteers whose work ensures that Malta’s history is not only preserved but made accessible to residents and visitors alike. It is exactly the kind of quiet, essential work that often goes unnoticed — and that deserves more support than it receives.

Why This Matters to Us

As a hospitality business operating within this landscape, we recognise that our success is inseparable from the health of the community and environment around us. The fortifications our guests walk along on their way to dinner, the stories they hear about the Knights, the siege, and the war — all of this exists because people and organisations like Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna have committed themselves to its preservation.

It is a reflection of what we believe: that the businesses which draw their livelihood from a place have a responsibility to give something back to it.

Our Commitment to the Community

Our support for Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna is part of a broader commitment to the communities we operate in. Since opening our doors, The Embassy Valletta Hotel has been actively involved in initiatives across heritage, culture, the environment, and social welfare — from sponsoring the Marsamxett Valletta Regatta Club and the Valletta Lions Table Football Club, to supporting the Soup Kitchen OFM Valletta and YMCA Malta’s 365 Campaign. As a Green Key certified hotel, we are equally committed to improving Valletta’s urban environment through clean-up and greening efforts.
