As a key player in the hospitality industry in Malta, we are committed towards our environment. Since the opening of our hotel in the heart of Valletta, we’ve never strayed from our core values, committing to sustainable development and environmental responsibility from day one.
During the past months, we’ve challenged ourselves to optimise our internal practices to comply with the Green Key eco-label standards. The high environmental standards expected from us by the Green Key standards are also maintained through rigorous documentation and frequent audits.
The Green Key certificate is the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. This prestigious eco-label represents a commitment by our hotel that the premises adhere to the strict criteria set by the Foundation for Environmental Education. A Green Key stands for the promise to our guests that by opting to stay at our Green Key establishment, they are helping to make a difference on an environmental level.
Some of the steps we took to protect the environment and be in line with the Green Key standards include:
- The air conditioning in all our rooms will stop working automatically once the balcony or window door is opened.
- All the lights in our rooms will be switched off within 10 seconds of removing the key card from the master switch.
- In our efforts to minimize single-use plastics, the bathroom amenities by L’Occitane, are provided in refillable bottles.
- The complimentary water provided to our guests is filtered on site to avoid the use of plastic water bottles and at the same time decrease the carbon footprint.
- Information is provided electronically instead on paper leaflets.
- Waste bins are provided with separators to help us recycle waste more efficiently.
- A towel washing saving measure is in place to reduce on water and energy use.
- The provision of rigorous training to all our employees to make sure that everyone is focused on how we can be loyal to our values when it comes to environment protection
